Global Warming Statistics And Empirical Data
Jeff Plante

Defined Tag:

Global warming continues to be a highly controversial issue and oftentimes acts as a polarizing point of contention in the political world. However, an individual looking to formulate an opinion on the subject should not look to the political landscape for accurate information, but to global warming statistics and empirical data.

It is best to examine the global warming statistics and data that exists, and from that factual information, formulate your own opinion. In other words, the global warming data should be used to formulate an opinion that is bereft of personal likes or dislikes, or outside political influences.

As with any scientific theory, in order to validate or invalidate global warming theory, it will require a clear, honest examination of global warming statistics. That is, one must look at the statistics being put forward, examine who is presenting this information, and then attempting to verify this information with an honest and open mind.

There should be a clear aversion to attempting to prove a point through data mining in order to validate a preconceived notion or belief. In order for one to be pro or con on the issue of global warming, opinions need to be based on empirical facts and global warming statistics.  The belief should not be based mutually exclusively on the basis of partisan beliefs. This is utterly and diametrically opposed to scientific exploration and should be avoided.

Ultimately, the examination of global warming statistics should start with the increasing and decreasing of temperatures over extended periods of time. However, this can become a difficult endeavor as the thermometer was not invented until the 18th century.  Therefore, any temperature statistics prior to the 18th century require careful deliberation in order to arrive at a relatively accurate possible temperature.

Tracking changes in the earth's temperature over time is an area that should be focused on when examining global warming statistics. This is one of the primary areas of contention, and thus becomes an excellent starting point in exploring global warming data.

Governments could slow global warming dramatically, and buy time to avert disastrous climate change, by slashing emissions of one of humanity's most familiar pollutants – soot – according to Nasa scientists. A study by the space agency shows that cutting down on the pollutant, which has so far been largely ignored by climate scientists, can have an immediate cooling effect – and prevent ...
